Carmel-by-the-Sea, California 93923
Most of the access for this hotspot is on Williams Ranch Road. It ends at a gate for a private residence. However, there is a plastic lined catchment at the end of the road that deserves looking at in each season when there is water. The Carmel River is farther south of here and birds fly through seeking a stopover.
The fence at the parking lot for Earthbound Farm is lined with salvia that attracts a multitude of Anna’s Hummingbirds in season. Look for that one rare one that sticks out such as the Broad-billed Hummingbird in October 2023. The staff is generous with allowing birders access behind the fence.
The hotspot is broader than this road but it’s a good place to park and walk the length. The east side of the road is lined with oaks and beyond that is farmland for Rana Creek Nursery which is not accessible, but can be scanned from the road.
