Tips for Birding

The best birding is from March through September. Be alert for openings in the canopy and significant “sap” trees for other species. Caution: The river can be impassable during and after heavy rains. Also, the trail has several low spots for standing water and can be muddy and slippery.

Birds of Interest

A mature mesquite bosque creates shady riparian habitats. Some regular species include Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Lucy’s w\Warbler, Vermilion Flycatcher, Bell’s Vireo, Summer Tanager, Anna's Hummingbird, and Gray Hawk.
