This small park is certainly worth a brief stop but doesn’t really qualify as a destination birding spot. The ponds and the bordering thickets and scattered ornamental plantings may attract occasional waterfowl and some passerine migrants. As such, visits are best planned to coincide with spring and fall migration.
Still rather poorly known with fewer than 50 species currently recorded.
The Avery Ave Ponds hotspot is a small municipal park off Chandler Crescent and Avery Avenue in the Parkhill West subdivision south of Parkhill Rd. W. The park consists of manicured lawns with ornamental plantings, a network of paved walking trails, and two stormwater retention ponds. The park is bordered to the north by the forest of the Jackson Creek valley.
