In 2007, educators and students at Folsom School helped design the usage for the 8-acre plot the town had recently purchased as a Recreation Park. Students helped assess the community and conducted surveys around town to see what recreational activities the community believed the town needed. They presented the results at a town meeting, along with a model of a completed park they built to scale with community volunteers and design experts. Together with the help of several Eagle Scouts, the first phase of the boardwalk was completed in 2009. The second phase of clearing & improving the longer loop trail was completed in 2012. A fitness station was built in 2015.

The newest wave of improvements started in 2019 with a series of 8 interactive learning stations including a music wall, poetry rock station, and more. In 2021 a permanent Storywalk (r) was installed, featuring rotating books for young readers to discover. The park is also home to the Folsom Outdoor Classroom, an interactive learning space by the pond where SHLT hosts afterschool clubs, summer camps, and more.

The park receives frequent use by Folsom students for various educational projects: studying soil types, water quality, invertebrates & other animals. In the winter, the trail is used by the PE class for snowshoeing & for team-building activities.

The trail starts from the South Street shared parking lot for the Folsom Education and Community Center.
