Tips for Birding

This is a small wastewater treatment plant, consisting of seven impoundments. Willow Ave. dead ends into the WTP. The gate is often open, but there is a no trespassing sign. Birding can be done from a vehicle or by walking the grassy area next to the first two ponds, a distance of a few hundred feet. You would need a scope to see into the back four ponds, depending on height of vegetation. Sixteen species of waterfowl have been observed here, and in addition to being a good area for shorebirds, the fields nearby by have yielded many species of hawks and flycatchers. It does not appear to be birded too well in the summer. This is an easy stop for 15-20 minutes.
