The Blue River and forested areas are accessible from the Minor Park Tennis Courts and Shelter #1 entrance. The historic swales area includes scattered large trees and mowed areas as well as forest edge.
Minor Park includes 235 acres managed by the Kansas City Department of Parks and Recreation south of Red Bridge Road. There are four entrances:
(1) The paved Blue River Trail extends from the Minor Park Tennis Courts north along the Blue River, passing the pickleball courts, Shelter #1, and the old Red Bridge, then leaving Minor Park, passing Alex George Wetlands, and extending 4 miles north along the Blue River to 95th Terrace. This trail connects with the Indian Creek Greenway Trail, also a birding hotspot. See the Blue River Parkway map at BRP_24x36Map_final2 (makeyourdayhere.com).
(2) A network of mountain bicycle trails (also available to walkers) extends south from the Minor Park Tennis Courts area. These trails are on Blue River Parkway County Park property. The trailhead is at the parking area for the tennis courts. See the Blue River Parkway map at BRP_24x36Map_final2 (makeyourdayhere.com).
(2) A shared use path (hikers and bicycles) is on the south side of Red Bridge Road extending from Blue River Road on the northeast to Holmes Road on the northwest side of the park. The path continues west along Red Bridge Road to Wornall Road.
