It is possible to view birds at Silver Lake with just binoculars, but a scope is necessary to see distant birds. There are several parking pull-offs along Silver Lake Boulevard.
This spot is mainly used for viewing waterfowl, but can often have a Peregrine Falcon. Occasionally you can find rare vagrants such as Caspian Terns, Sanderlings, Little Gulls, and more.
Silver Lake is bounded on the north by Silver Lake Boulevard and Fourth Street, and on the west and south by residential and commercial properties. It is approximately 26 acres with a maximum water depth of about 30 feet.
