Pigeon Lake--Sandy Point

Buckhorn, Ontario

Tips for Birding

A scope is highly recommended as the birds are often well out on the lake,

Birds of Interest

The main draw for birders is in late fall (mid-October to ice up, but primarily late October and early November) to watch the lake for waterbirds. Numbers of ducks of all varieties are possible as are numbers of gulls and smaller numbers of loons and grebes. This is one of the most reliable places/times to get scoters, Bonaparte's Gulls, Long-tailed Duck and other "big water waterbirds" in Peterborough County.
