Binoculars at minimum, spotting scope best. Several spots with a view alongside CR 257. Make sure you look at edges of water for shorebirds not just main lake for ducks and other waterfowl.
Waterfowl especially fall to early spring. Bald Eagle(s) seen on semi-regular basis. While the waterfowl will keep you busy, keep alert for other species like Belted Kingfisher, Northern Harrier and various grassland birds. Check eBird hotspot for list of species and timing.
Lake is on private land. Only viewing is from the roadside. Approximate 30 acre lake constructed and full in December 2022. Gravel County road is in good shape and it is relatively easy to find a pull-off spot. If it has been raining however, be careful parking off road. Park on easement but do not block gates or driveways. Pond is on east side of road. Time of day matters on sunny days. Best mid-morning to mid-afternoon. One home across the road to the west. Renters have been known to call landowner who have come by to check. Other residents will sometimes stop to see what you are doing as they drive by. Do not cross fence lines to get closer to lake.
