About this Location

Parker Mountain is a small peak that offers a moderate hike and some scenic views. The mountain is part of the Blue Hills Range, which extends from Maine to Massachusetts. The summit of Parker Mountain is 1,316 feet and can be reached by the Spencer Smith Trail or the Neil Mooers Trail. Along the way, hikers can enjoy the forest scenery, wildlife, and a plane crash site from 1973. The mountain is also known for its former mica and feldspar mines, which operated from the 1880s to 1959. 

From Portsmouth: Take exit 13 from NH-16 onto US-202 west. After about six miles get on NH-126 north. NH-126 becomes Parker Mountain Road and there is a parking area on the left just after passing through Center Strafford.

Notable Trails

Parker Mountain is a good beginner hike in Strafford. The top can be reached quickly by the Spencer Smith trail from NH-126. The view from the top is somewhat limited, but some nice foliage can be seen during the fall.
