Joyce Stevens Monterey Pine Preserve (currently closed except along lower Jacks Peak Rd)

Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District

Tips for Birding

This 851 acre preserve for extensive Monterey Pine forests, encircling Jacks Peak County Park on three sides, was obtained by the Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District in 2020, and named for local naturalist Joyce Stevens. The Preserve is not yet open to the public. In due course there will be public trails that will connect with trails within Jacks Peak County Park.

For the moment, the lower portions of Jacks Peak Road pass through this Preserve, so one may survey birds from the public road, even though the public cannot not yet enter the forest on trails.
