Birds of Interest

Spring
Common Loon, grebes, Red-breasted Merganser, Double-crested Cormorant, American Coot, plovers, sandpipers, gulls, and terns.
Summer
American Avocet, Willet, Marbled Godwit, Baird’s Sandpiper, Red Knot, Sanderling, chances for Laughing, Franklin’s, and Little Gulls.
Fall
Common Loon, ducks, gulls, Common Tern. Rare in fall: Purple Sandpiper, Red Phalarope, Black-legged Kittiwake.
Winter
Ducks, Bufflehead, Common Goldeneye, gulls, Snowy Owl.
Rarities
Northern Gannet, Brown Pelican, Gyrfalcon, Lesser Black-backed, California, Glaucous-winged, Heermann’s, Black-headed, and Sabine’s Gulls, and Sandwich Tern. Year-round: Mallard and Herring and Ring-billed Gulls.

About this Location

Tiscornia Park is a family-oriented park located on sixteen acres along the shoreline of Lake Michigan at the northwest corner of the City. Amenities include the North Pier Lighthouse and walkway that is a popular spot for fishing and watching sunsets, restroom facilities, sandy beach and a pavilion that will accommodate about 35 for picnics.

There is a small daily per car parking fee for both residents and non-residents. A parking kioski is located near the restrooms. Residents may obtain a free seasonal parking permit and non-residents may purchase a seasonal parking permit from the City Clerk's Office at City Hall.
