The Johnny Appleseed Visitor Center is a tourist attraction located in Lancaster. It is dedicated to the life and legacy of John Chapman, better known as Johnny Appleseed, who was born in Leominster, Massachusetts in 1774. The visitor center features a museum, a gift shop, a picnic area, and a bronze statue of Johnny Appleseed. Visitors can learn about the history and folklore of this American pioneer, who planted apple trees across the Midwest and became a symbol of environmentalism and kindness. The visitor center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on major holidays. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
The visitor center is in a rest area off of MA--2.
