6501 Pageland Lane Gainesville, Virginia 20155
Manassas National Battlefield Park Official WebsiteThere is good field and edge habitat here, from the entrance road leading in off Pageland Lane, all the way east to other Hot Spots in the Park. You can bird from the car, or walk the trails for many miles (even connecting with other Hot Spots in the Park), or anything in between.
American Kestrels have bred for several years in the Park, and are found year-round in these fields. This is also one of the best locations in the Park for uncommon-to-rare sparrow species and other field specialists such as American Pipit and Eastern Meadowlark.
The actual interpretive center is about 300 yards east of the parking lot and restroom. Be aware that the restroom facility here is seasonal; the Park Service has been closing it over the winter, in recent years.

Manasssas National Battlefield Park is managed by the National Park Service primarily to preserve and display the rich civil war history here. At the same time, it provides a fine variety of birding habitats. There are many places to park, walk the trails, or even view some of the fields from your car. All of the extensive field areas are managed to provide a variety of mown, brushy, and succession grassland.
Unlike many other National Parks, this sprawling and accessible park is free - no entrance or parking fees. Many of the street entrances and parking areas have gates; but in recent years, most of the gates have remained open 24 hours. It is usually possible to bird at any time of day.
