Crest Trail--Montezuma Pass to Wilderness Boundary

Crest Trail--Montezuma Pass to Wilderness Boundary

Tips for Birding

The Crest Trail climbs steadily from Montezuma Pass to the Miller Peak Trail, gaining thousands of feet of elevation and passing through multiple different habitats. Because of the habitat changes, it's important to divide the hike up into multiple checklists so that the birds are more closely tied with the habitat that they were using. This first hotspot includes the first 2.2 miles of the trail, up to the signed Wilderness boundary. If you continue past the boundary, please start a new checklist, which can be mapped in the next hotspot along the trail.
