Chagrin River Corridor Important Bird Area
Russell Uplands Preserve has gently rolling ridges cut by deep ravines that are typical of the Chagrin River Valley area. The preserve is perfect for long hikes with over 3 miles of loop trails through a mature upland forest. The pond near the parking area provides a wonderful chance for quiet contemplation while observing the busy lives of wildlife that rely on an aquatic habit. Visitors might even get the opportunity to glimpse the twin-spotted spiketail, a rare dragonfly that is known to exist in only 12 of Ohio’s 88 counties.
