Peterborough--Auburn Reach Park

Water Street North, Peterborough, Ontario

Tips for Birding

Generally a spot that local birders will target in the winter and early spring for ducks, geese, grebes and gulls.

Birds of Interest

Good spot in the winter for Glaucous and Iceland Gulls and always worthwhile to pick through all the waterfowl in hopes of finding the odd Cackling Goose or Snow Goose (and even a Barnacle Goose was found here in the spring of 2022). In the summer, there is often Caspian Terns loafing on the rocks near shore.

About this Location

Auburn Reach is the section of river between the dam at the south end of the Zoo and Auburn Generating Station. This hotspot is really just a pull off area where people can park beside the river and feed the ducks.
