Approximate location is 1632 Briar Ridge Road, Taylorsville KY 40071.
Park at the gate, but do not block the gate. The eBird hotspot pin is located at the parking area. This trail is not maintained regularly, and may be overgrown in warmer months, and muddy after precipitation. Be prepared for ticks and other biting insects in warmer months.
Birds typical for hardwood forests should be expected. There is a creek on the west edge of the trail that feeds into Taylorsville Lake, so there may be waterfowl that nest in that habitat. American Woodcock have been seen and heard displaying over the field.
This is part of the Taylorsville Lake WMA, so you should be aware of the hunting schedule for the property before attempting to bird the WMA. There is a lane to cross Briar Ridge Road directly at the parking location, making access to this hotspot convenient for those coming from either direction.
There is a two-track behind the gate that splits into a loop around a large field. You can walk around the edge of the field, which is shaped like an inverted teardrop. Approximate length of the trail, from the parking area and around the loop, is about 1.75 miles. There may be mowed paths in the field, but they may change from year to year.
