Early morning is best during spring migration. Even with a highway nearby near Whitney Road, many birds can be found by listening for their calls/songs. The best/ most productive area seems to be the short stretch of trail just south of the parking lot near Eastland Road but, the trails both north to Quarry Lane and south all the way to Whitney Road can also have good birds.
A variety of warblers can be seen, sometimes at close range in the spring.
American redstarts can be seen and heard even after spring migration so, it could indicate that they breed here.
Waterthrushes have be recorded in the small wetlands along the trails.
Solitary sandpipers use the small wetlands and the river during migration.
This stretch of wooded bridle trail and walking trail has had reliable warblers and other birds, especially during the spring migration. The trails follow a stretch of the East Branch of the Rocky River through Mill Stream Run Reservation.
There are restrooms on the birth end of this area near Quarry Lane.
