About this Location

The Carpinteria Salt Marsh Natural Reserve is part of the University of California's Natural Reserve system, and is managed to preserve its habitat value and to facilitate ongoing research. The site is restricted access; only authorized visitors are allowed.

There are two ways of gaining access to the reserve. One is to apply through RAMS.  These applications are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and approval is not guaranteed.

In addition, there is an ongoing bird survey program that allows volunteers to bird the location; people who are interested in finding out more about that can contact John Callender at jbc@jbcsystems.com.
