7134 West County Road 123 Colorado City, Texas 79512 (325) 242-2093
Official WebsiteThis is a privately (contractor) managed city-owned park. As such, there is an entrance fee. Some birders have been waived right in without being charged a fee but that may depend on the season and person doing the check-in.
Please be sure to mention that you are there to bird the park/reservoir.
This park will probably be more busy on weekends and in prime fishing season.
The reservoir itself generally runs east/west and the park is on the south side, so viewing conditions should not be too affected by the angle of the sun.
From the Official Website
Lake Champion is an 1100+ acre lake that stretches 4 miles through the Heart of West Texas. It’s quiet, uncrowded and full of fish.
Fisher Park is located on 30 acres of the south shore. The sandy beaches are a perfect spot to cool off or take in the sunset.
The spring fed water is cool and clear year round.
Undeveloped shorelines stretch for miles and there’s not a jet ski or wake board in sight.
Large bass, crappie and catfish are caught regularly.
Basically, it’s a recipe for a great day on the water.
