Southwick Quarry

Southwick, Massachusetts 01077

About this Location

Southwick Quarry is a former sand and gravel mining site that covers about 250 acres of land and has been closed since 2004. The site is now owned by the town of Southwick and is used for recreation and conservation purposes. However, the quarry also poses some dangers to visitors, as it has steep cliffs and unstable rocks. In recent years, there have been several incidents of people falling or getting injured at the quarry, some of them fatal. The police and the fire department have warned people to stay away from the restricted areas and to be careful when hiking or biking near the quarry.

The Southwick Quarry is located north of Feeding Hill Road (MA-57). The quarry may be reached by taking the Metacomet-Monadnock Trail (M&M Trail) north from Feeding Hill Road.
