About this Location

Richardi Reservoir was created in 1904 by damming the Monatiquot River, and it covers an area of about 60 acres. The reservoir is used for recreation, fishing, and wildlife habitat. It is also a source of drinking water for the town of Braintree and some neighboring communities. The reservoir is named after Joseph Richardi, a former mayor of Braintree who was instrumental in its construction.

There are two access points to Richardi Reservoir.

  • There is an apartment complex across the street from Messina Drive on Pond Street. Go through the parking lot to a path down to the water. 
  • There is also access to this pond via Lincoln Avenue off of North Street.
