Peterborough--University Heights Park

Tips for Birding

If you are birding both University Heights Park and the Woodland Acres Hydro Corridor Trails, it is recommended that you start a new checklist when you pass from one area to the other, as they represent very different habitats.

About this Location

University Heights Park is accessed from a small neighbourhood playground on Hetherington Drive. The playground has a small open space and a play structure. Trailheads to the natural area are at the back of the playground behind the play structure.

Hetherington Drive is wide and parking is allowed on the street.

Notable Trails

There is an unmarked loop trail with boardwalks that crosses an unnamed creek running through the hardwood bush. The creek empties into a cattail marsh at the southwest end of the park.

There are a number of side trails that provide access from private properties that back onto the park. One side trail connects with the Woodland Acres Hydro Corridor Trails hotspot.
