A Polk County park with wooded edges around a popular fishing lake. Accessible trails wander through varied habitats.
On the south side of Des Moines. From US 65, turn east onto East Army Post Rd. Go about a mile to Indianola Ave. and turn north. Go about another mile to the stop light and turn east (right). In approximately a mile the entrance to the park will be on your left. Other access points are found by following the road around the lake.
Mostly woodlands surrounding a man-made lake. Several viewing areas for waterfowl and trails lead to areas with numerous passerines.
A fully paved trail encircles the lake.
