There is a sign at the start of this road that says it's not open to the public. That is not for the road--it appears to be saying there is not a public entrance to the state park from this road.
When you turn off Bob Bullock Loop, drive slowly along the road. In the first part, there may be sparrows along the fence line.
It can be very birdy in the area where the road takes a right turn and a house is on the left. Look for small passerines going from the ground to the trees.
Follow the road to the left at the sign that says "El Ranchito Group Facility."
Shortly thereafter, the large pond should start to show on the left.
You might bird from this end of the road but, in the morning, it might be better to start from the far end of the road to have the sun to your back.
If you can, walk the road slowly and quietly.
Waterfowl. Shorebirds. Herons and grebes.
The only views of the pond are where there are breaks in the trees.
This road has several houses at the end so be sure to pull all the way off to the side of the road and be prepared for passing cars.
None. The road is paved and would be suitable for a wheelchair or scooter.
Feedback about accessibility from visitors with mobility issues would be much appreciated.
