East Street Swamp is a wetland area located within the Willowdale State Forest. East Street Swamp is an important ecological resource that provides habitat, flood control, and water quality benefits to the region.

The Bay Circuit Trail parallels East Street and passes the East Street Swamp on the north side of East Street.

Willowdale State Forest is a public recreation area located in the towns of Ipswich, Boxford, and Hamilton. The state forest covers more than 2,400 acres of woodlands, wetlands, and ponds. It offers opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, fishing, hunting, and cross-country skiing. The forest is managed by the Department of Conservation and Recreation.

There are 2 turnouts for parking along the side of Ipswich Road. There is a third turnout on Linebrook Road on the opposite side of the park.
