Folsom, New Mexico 88419
If you carefully keep your bird records by state, be aware of the location of the state line and use the appropriate eBird hotspots when you submit checklists. The New Mexico-Oklahoma state line is at the bridge crossing the Dry Cimarron River.
The Dry Cimarron River is a tributary of the Arkansas River that flows through northeastern New Mexico, southeastern Colorado, and the Oklahoma Panhandle. The river derives its name from the Spanish word "cimarrón", which means "wild" or "untamed". The river is often dry along its course, as it disappears underground in some sections and loses water to evaporation and irrigation.
One of the scenic routes along the Dry Cimarron River is NM-456, a highway that connects Folsom and Kenton. The highway crosses the river several times and offers views of sandstone formations, grassy meadows, and local wildlife.
