Big Sandy Pond, also known simply as Sandy Pond, is a 149-acre Great Pond with an average depth of 18 feet and a maximum depth of 39 feet. There are just under two miles of shoreline, but almost all of it has been developed with summer cottages and year-round houses. 

Access is provided by a gravel boat ramp and associated parking area. The ramp and parking area are located off Gunning Point Road, separated from a nearby house by a chain link fence.
