About this Location

The Waltham Field Station is a historic agricultural research facility established in 1914 by the Massachusetts Agricultural College as the Eastern Substation of the Massachusetts Agricultural Experiment Station. The field station conducted experiments on crop production, soil fertility, plant breeding, pest management, and animal husbandry. The field station also served as a demonstration site for farmers and students and hosted educational programs and community events. The field station is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is currently owned by the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
