Bill Stanton Community Park

Tips for Birding

This park sits above Lake Erie and offers an excellent vantage point for viewing migrating waterbirds. Lake watching is best from mid-September into December in the fall and March into May in the spring.

Birds of Interest

This park is best for observing birds on Lake Erie. In November large movements of waterfowl, loons, grebes, and gulls  can be observed. In November 2022, 88 red-throated loons were observed flying along the shoreline. This park has been consistent for scoters, long-tailed ducks and other deep water species. The many large conifers scattered through the park will sometimes attract migrating winter finches. Red-breasted nuthatch and pine siskin have nested on the property.

About this Location

The 30+ acre park is run by Madison Township. There are picnic tables, restrooms, and rentable facilities in the park. The park closes at dusk.
