This hotspot is still closed to the public as of 1/1/2024.

But the local Arroyo Colorado Audubon Society leads a bird survey on the third Saturday of the month at 7:30 a.m. All are welcome.

The site is also open during the Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival to gather data on birds here.

The governing authority still wants to install restrooms, build a parking lot, and move the dogs out before they officially "open" the site to birders.

It is hoped it might be able to be opened this year but all funding for the improvements is coming from grants.
