About this Location

The Young Island Important Bird Area includes Young Island and Bixby Island which are also known as the “Sister Islands."

Young Island is a state-owned island in Lake Champlain (5 acres). It is a breeding location for rare and priority species, primarily colonial waterbirds. Important species include; Great Black-backed Gull, Black-crowned Night Heron, and Herring Gull.
