Mount Hor belongs to the Northeastern Highlands of Vermont. It rises from the western shore of Lake Willoughby, a deep lake that was carved by glaciers centuries ago. The mountain has a sheer cliff face that plunges into the lake. The cliff is a habitat for rare plants and birds, such as the peregrine falcon. Mount Hor can be reached by several hiking trails in Willoughby State Forest, which offer views of the lake and the surrounding area.
Mount Hor Trail is a 5.3-mile moderately trafficked out-and-back trail located near Orleans, Vermont that features a river and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and running and is best used from May until October.
