The beaver pond at Kinsman Notch New Hampshire is left over from the last ice age. As the ice receded, it left depressions in the landscape and this “bowl” has hills rising on two sides, and the third side is opposite where the road leads up to the pond. The pond is on Lost River Road (NH-112). The Appalachian Trail passes south of the pond.
You can walk the Appalachian Trail in either direction from the trailhead at the south end of the pond.
The AllTrails website has a description and map of a hike on the Appalachian Trail from Beaver Brook.
