Bass Rock trail mapThis 11-acre gem near the village of Round Pond, features 1,350 feet of deepwater frontage on Muscongus Bay. Bass Rock Preserve is dominated by mixed hardwoods and conifers. There is parking for 2-3 cars.
A short trail leads from the road to the shore, and, near the shore, the trail splits. The yellow-blazed trail goes right and leads to a rocky beach, while the green-blazed trail goes left past a unique hole in a ledge and then loops around back to the main trail. On either side of the cove, visitors can look out on Muscongus Bay toward Friendship from the wide expanses of exposed ledge.
