Jones Rd. forks off from FM534 on its southern end, where the habitat is open fields with wildflowers - good habitat for meadowlarks, sparrows, Vermilion Flycatchers and kingbirds, kestrels, caracara and other raptors. As you drive northwest, the habitat becomes enclosed thornscrub, with roadrunners, turkeys, thrashers, Pyrrhuloxia, chat, Painted Bunting, and doves. Jones Rd. ends at Live Oak CR 151 (Mills Rd.), which can be taken southwest towards US Hwy 281 or northeast towards Live Oak CR 146E (bridge is out over the Nueces River on CR 151), which takes you west to Live Oak CR101 for additional roadside birding.
