The east side of the road is a crawfish farm and usually has a good number of wading birds and waterfowl in season. King Rails nest along the Crawfish ponds can be seen from the road. The north end near Fairview road is usually planted in rice and can have a good number of shorebirds in the spring. Most of the local raptors can be found along the road in season. The west side of the road is usually grazed pretty short and can have large flocks of blackbirds in the winter, look for Yellow-headed Blackbirds and Brewer's Blackbirds. In the spring look for Upland Sandpipers and Whimbrels in the short grass.
