About this Location

Turntable Park is located right next to the Winooski River on Stonecutter’s Way. The park was created as part of a community development project to create a park out of a historic element of Montpelier’s history. Trains used to be much more heavily used, for transportation and in downtown Montpelier to move granite products in a then-thriving granite industry. There were multiple train tracks along what is now Stonecutters way and the turntable allowed engines and train cars to be able to be “spun” around to switch directions.

Turntable park gives people a chance to learn a bit about Montpelier’s history, enjoy a picnic or a moment of reflection and enjoy the Winooski River.

The Nature Conservancy office is adjacent to Turntable Park.
