Mohawk Trail Conservation Area is a former commercial nursery beloved for its cathedral-like woods and a point of access to one of western Massachusetts’s most notable long-distance trails: the Mahican-Mohawk Trail.

The Franklin Land Trust purchased the Mohawk Trail Conservation area in 1992, and in the process became the steward of a truly unique parcel. During the mid-20th century, the land that would become the Mohawk Trail Conservation area was a bustling commercial nursery, a history which is visible today in the neat rows of red pine, European larch, and Norway spruce throughout the woodlot. Although there are as many exotic species in the property’s present-day woodlot as there are native, the area is beloved for its shaded woods and as a point of access to the Mahican-Mohawk Trail.

Mohawk Trail Conservation is located on US-2 0.5 miles south of the turn-off onto Maple Street towards Shelburne Falls and directly opposite  Shelburne Falls Mini Storage.
