Bird the areas north of the Little Blue River and the wetland areas.
The old growth woodland on the north edge of the area is very good for spring warblers. Some wetlands along the Little Blue River produce herons and other wetland species. Open field areas produce prairie species.
Known for excellent birding for warblers in the spring. The only way to get to this area is to hike in from the Little Blue Trace - Phelps Rd. Trailhead at Lee's Summit Road and Phelps Road, hence I thought it was part of the Little Blue Trace Trail system. I have birded the area long before the trail system was created.
Little Blue Trace Trail runs through the area.
