About this Location

Herkimer Point is within Hiawatha First Nation. It is accessed via Herkimer Point Road. The point itself is a rich deciduous forest on an island surrounded by marsh to the north and Rice Lake on the other three sides.

NOTE: As of at least spring 2024, a no trespassing sign has been erected at the entrance to the island and birders should no longer enter this property.

Hiawatha First Nation has informed us that "at the present time we are only allowing our Citizens to utilize the area..." 

Please respect the wishes of the residents of Hiawatha FN and do not visit this property.
