Situated near the northern Concord village of Penacook, the Contoocook River Park trail system crisscrosses an old railroad bed to offer views of deciduous forests, wetland vegetation, the Palisades, and the Contoocook River. 

Trailhead parking is on the northeast side of the park off Electric Avenue. There is a boat launch on the southwest side of the park off Island Road.
