Allow plenty of time for hiking or if you want sit quietly in parking areas, you will be surprised with what you will see. Do not miss any of the parking areas and take easy short walks. Check the park maps for all of the parking areas.
Cerulean Warbler, all warbler species. A broad spectrum of species.
Best birding area in western Missouri for spring birding. Intensive trail system with paved and natural trails. Old growth native woodland and prairie areas. Good campground, restrooms, parking areas, playground, and picnic locations near trail heads. Interesting signs explaining history of the area and environmental initiatives.
All of the trails are notable for birding. The trail alongside the Missouri River has some wetland habitat, but it takes more effort to visit.
