Mather's Corners Meltwater Pond

1080 Drummund Line, Mather's Corners, ON

Birds of Interest

Virtually all of the waterfowl in Peterborough County have occurred here and this might be the best place in the county to get Tundra Swans. Early-season dabbling ducks are a specialty. In years where flooding lasts into May, shorebirds may be present.

About this Location

This is a seasonally flooded field, usually sometime between mid-March and late April. The exact duration and extent of flooding varies from year-to-year. Viewing (scope recommended) is done from Drummond Line. Drainage pipes were installed in this field in the fall of 2023 and the spring of 2024, which henceforth may render the site unsuitable for waterfowl and shorebirds.

Please park on the east side of the road down the hill (south) of house #1080. This reduces the chances of someone coming up to the hill and not seeing your parked vehicle until the last minute.
