About this Location

Franklin Farm in Cumberland, Rhode Island is a town-owned historic farm encompasses over 65 acres of land. The farm is open to visitation from the general public. There is a dirt parking lot available next to the barn on the West Field. This farm is broken into two fields separated by Abbott Run Valley Road. The West Field is the larger field, the terrain is hilly and there is a small natural pool not too far from the parking area. The East Field is slightly smaller and has flatter terrain, it also provides views of the Abbott Run and Rawson Pond. Under the right conditions, the Abbott Run will produce mud flats which can be good to check for shorebirds. Both fields have walking paths, however, after heavy rain the grass can become very saturated; under these conditions, waterproof shoes are helpful.
