The main attraction here for birders are the large number of geese that regularly roost in the pond during spring migration. Rarer species (Greater White-fronted, Snow, etc.) show up here with some regularity. The geese often leave a couple of times a day (morning and late afternoon) to feed in the extensive agricultural fields of the area.
Briar Hill is a privately-owned property that features a small pond that can attract a large number of geese and other waterfowl, especially in spring. The pond can be viewed safely from the south from the shoulder of County Rd 21. The area surrounding the pond has grassland habitat that can host Eastern Meadowlarks, Eastern Bluebirds and other grassland bird species.
