Peterborough--Millennium Park

Peterborough--Millennium Park

Peterborough, Ontario

Birds of Interest

The park is a busy one for pedestrians and gets a good selection of songbirds in the wooded sections, plus has good access to the Otonabee River for winter ducks. The river widens just below the Silver Bean (above the railway bridge) which can have ducks, and often gulls roosting on exposed rocks. Caspian Tern is quite regular from mid-summer to early fall. Notable records include Barrow's Goldeneye (winter) and Arctic Tern (late spring).

About this Location

Millennium Park is a narrow park that runs along the west side of the Otonabee River, approximately from No Frills (Sherbrooke St) to Simcoe St. An accessible pathway follows the shoreline (part of the TransCanada Trail).

At the south end of the park is The Silver Bean, a small, seasonlly-operated cafe with an outdoor patio.

There are some bird feeders operated some of the year behind the large green building (the MNR offices).
