About this Location

In March 2022, the Town of Amherst closed on the purchase of the former Hickory Ridge Golf Course. This 150-acre parcel is rich in natural beauty, ecological resources, and recreation opportunities with nearly 2 miles of the Fort River passing through, important open woodland habitat, and existing cart paths providing access throughout most of the land. In purchasing this land, the goals include the protection and restoration of vital natural resources and the opportunity for new passive recreation uses, walking trails, and connectivity for the nearby residents to the Pomeroy Village Center. As the Town takes ownership of the land and begins to plan for the future of Hickory Ridge, the public is welcome to access the land for walking, cross-country skiing, and other passive recreation uses.
