Dimmitt City Park

Dimmitt City Park

Dimmitt, Texas 79027

Tips for Birding

There’s plenty of room to pull completely off to the side of the road that’s on the south side of the playa. In wintertime, this would mean you could view the playa from inside a vehicle on cold or windy days and are mostly looking northward.

About this Location

This park is also known as Sheffy Park.

There is a playa in this park which is a major draw for the park and brings in winter waterfowl.

A "playa" is a shallow depression that occasionally becomes a shallow lake with rainfall. Playas are particularly good spots in the Texas Panhandle for wintering waterfowl.

This is a city park with little to no understory vegetation. There are a few small trees within the park.

There is a pier which runs out into the playa.

It might be worthwhile to walk the easement road on the north side of the playa where the trees are bigger and the area is less manicured.

Notable Trails

No official trails. It might be possible to walk along the northern edge of the playa along an easement area.
